Fairly easy to install. It seems to work reliably. There were two minor installation issues: 1. There is an o-ring on the battery cover that pulled out and shifted when I opened the battery compartment. I've tried to straighten and properly seat the o-ring and it seems to fit snugly, but I'm not relying on it being waterproof. According to the manual, it's "splashproof" and not waterproof anyway. Just take a look. 2. The guide will tell you how to program it for different engine types (1-cylinder, 2-stroke, etc.) in order for the tachometer to read correctly. I have a Kohler 1 cyl. 4-stroke, but the setting given gave double readings. After switching to 1 cyl. 2-stroke mode, everything works. Seems like the spark plug is firing with every revolution. I suspect another 1 cyl. Four-stroke engines work the same way. Attention users!
