There are many poorly designed or poorly manufactured dryer balls that can be useless or worse. This isn't one of them. It's made of a strong but pliable material that keeps items from sticking together in the dryer, but it's not so heavy that it makes a loud bang in the dryer while it's running. An absolute must for drying large items, especially stretchy ones like mattress covers and sheets that tend to grab small items and hold them in their stretchy corners so they don't dry out completely. More importantly, fragile items are free to move around so they don't burn, and if you've ever melted a new mattress topper when you first put it in the dryer, you know these little gems are cheap insurance . . I use one for most loads and both for king bedding.
