Maxi-Lock thread is a quality and economical thread. I don't have an overlock machine, but I find it very useful for quilting, embroidery, and sewing. Black thread is of course one of the most commonly used colors. I use it in two ways: (1) I use it as an upper thread with a thread cone holder. (2) I use it as a bobbin thread. For winding I use a cone-shaped thread holder. For general sewing I use Maxi Lock on the top and bottom of my sewing machine. For embroidery and quilting I use Sulky thread on the upper thread and Maxi Lock thread on the bobbin. bobbin thread. I do this by setting the top voltage to zero and adjusting the coil voltage a bit. This works particularly well when the bobbin thread is close in color to the bobbin thread. Maxi Lock has a wide range of colors. I have a large selection of bobbins in a variety of Maxi Lock colors ready to use to match any of my top threads. Using these big cones saves me a lot of money. They are much more economical than small spools, especially the wonderful (but expensive) sulky yarn.
