Review on Samsung Electronics XE500C13 Chromebook Laptop by Sean Spence

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Simple, fast, does what it's supposed to do

So far I've only used Windows computers - desktop and laptop options. I always assumed that I wouldn't like Chromebooks because I couldn't download things, but I'm happy to report that I'm now a Chromebook fanatic. Web browser and engage in light activities; someone who needs a lightweight portable device for working on the go and doesn't want to lug around a heavy laptop; anyone on a budget who wants a basic computer. Who SHOULD NOT buy this?: Anyone who needs to do heavier tasks like gaming, video editing, etc.; Those who need to download special programs; Everyone expected high-resolution graphics and Windows PC functionality. Why I bought it?: I needed a portable laptop for writing and was on a tight budget. I also wanted to buy a brand I'm familiar with. Bottom line?: I will definitely buy a more powerful Chromebook in the future now that I know I like this OS. I'm glad I tried this little device and plan on using it for as long as it lasts. Additional information: You have access to the Play Store. Not all apps work, but I believe that applies to the Chromebook as a whole, not just this device. Although more powerful apps like big games might not run (I haven't really tried). You cannot download external apps outside of the Play Store. The display is good but not great (not high res). Battery life is good. You must use a Google account to sign in, but you can register one during setup. Definitely buy if you're unsure about a Chromebook, need a budget PC for basic web tasks, and want something lightweight and portable.
