Review on Kate Aspen Showcase Gift Box, Yellow 'About to Hatch' Kitchen Egg Timer (18010WT) by Christa Baldwin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well. When used correctly. Can't swim

As soon as I received this timer I tested it. When used like any other mechanical alarm I have used it works very well. I wind it up to the maximum time and then reset it to the desired time interval. The time is ticking and the noise level is reasonable and the alarms are loud enough for about 5 seconds. Mine seems to fire half a minute earlier regardless of the time set. My guess is that those who haven't had very good results with this timer just haven't wound it up enough to make it work. As for durability, we'll see. For less than $5, this is a very good deal indeed. Oh, the packaging was nice too. Update from 02/18/2019: Still works, but the numbers smear quite easily and could possibly be completely deleted. I've drawn markers just in case. Update: 06/17/2020 Bought two more in August 2019, the numbers covered with clear varnish. Thus the numbers are not smeared. Durability: The first one died after I dropped it in my cold drink, so it's not waterproof. One of the second batch had problems after over twisting and damaging the plastic tabs inside the top that wind up the winder (sorry I didn't save the recessed one for parts).
