I have an old HP laptop - I mean old (I bought it in 2012) - but it was refurbished and upgraded by my tech brother and is now my workhorse. The only bad thing is that it has an old fan-cooled HDD and not a new HDD (like my ASUS). I've tried pretty much everything from clip-on fans to the copper coin trick to keep the drive from overheating, but most things didn't work (like the copper coin) or were bulky and noisy and in the way. (and due to the fact that they run more on USB, they had to be charged every time I turned around!). I ordered two KLIM cooling products: this bamboo cooling pad and a vacuum fan that attaches to the laptop vent. Unfortunately the latter didn't work due to my HP's design, but this bamboo cooling pad works like a dream! A few times when my hard drive's fan was running at high speed, the fans on the thermal pad quickly brought it back under control, keeping everything cool and quiet. This makes me feel much calmer and more comfortable when using my HP for long periods of time. Best of all, the Bamboo Cooling Pad is easy to use, lightweight yet durable and a pleasure to look at, making it a great value!
