I wasn't expecting a miracle, I just wanted to find the warmest winter socks you can find for winter in upstate New York. I usually wear REI winter socks, which are great, but wanted to see if other non-heated socks would be even better. The first time I put them on was in November while playing golf at a temperature of 38-42 degrees. These were the warmest, most comfortable socks I have ever worn in my golf shoes and they stayed in place perfectly through 18 holes. I will definitely be choosing them for my boots this winter as I spend hours in the snow photographing wildlife. Expensive but I would buy them again.
