I received this soundbar to replace another soundbar that could not be programmed to the universal cable box. After a few years I got tired of constantly carrying the remote from the old bar to adjust the volume. This bar is very easy to program on my Universal! The sound quality of this panel is better than the old panel and much better than the TV speakers. The quick settings for Movie and Dialogue modes are actually very useful. They enhance the sound for their specific mode. (music mode is not that useful for me) I was very pleasantly surprised by them. But the irony is this. Now I have to hold the remote close by from this panel to switch modes. Oh good. To program the basic functions (power, volume +/-, mute) for your existing TV remote control into the soundbar, follow these steps to put the soundbar in learning mode: 1. Turn on the soundbar2. Press and hold the "+" and "-" buttons on the side of the soundbar until the LED flashes RED. The soundbar is now in remote learning mode, .3. Use your TV remote control/universal remote control to point it at the soundbar and press the "Power" button on the remote control, the RED light will stop flashing. Press the "Power" button again to confirm.4. Press the mute button, the LED turns GREEN. Press the Mute button again to confirm.5. Press the "Volume Up" button, the LED will turn ORANGE. Press the Volume Up button again to confirm.6. Press the "Volume Down" button, the LED will turn BLUE. Press the volume down button again to confirm. Your TV/universal remote should now control the soundbar (on/off, volume +/-, mute). The original soundbar remote can still be used to control all basic and advanced soundbar functions (e.g. modes).
