Review on North States MyPet Extra Wide Windsor by Patrice Dorsey

Love everything but the latch button that

We had to separate the kitchen from the dog so the cats had a place to themselves and also kept him away from the tray and their food. Installation was very easy, it only took my husband a few minutes from start to finish (assuming he is anything but new to the installation and this is a different style of gate compared to other gates we have installed). The gate looks great. Our dog is a 9 month old 65lb lab mix. He hit the gate with all his might, and although the bottom of the gate moved slightly, he held on and did not succumb to his weight and strength. He also likes to stand on his hind legs and throw his front legs over the fan. He didn't try to jump over this gate, but our other gate is the same height as the flat part and he can jump over it since he can use the wall to push his back legs (he didn't figure out how). jumping on and over something, if he knew that he could handle that with no problem) so this might not work with big dogs who are determined or just smarter than my dog. All 3 of our cats, including our 14 year old girl who becomes quite weak, are able to get rid of it with no problem. My only complaint, and it could be a safety issue when using this with kids or a dog that understands how to lift and pull the gate, is that the gate knob gets stuck. As long as the gate is closed and latched, I can just lift and open the gate. At some point he will appear again. I even slammed it to see if that would put it back in place, but it doesn't. Overall, unless you're using it for cats, large or very nervous dogs, or kids, I recommend it. It looks great and works amazing for the most part.

Pros
  • gets stuck. Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
