Not suitable for in-ear headphones

Just got them in the mail. I tried them on my iPhone XS MAX and this message came up the moment I plugged it in. I restarted my phone and the same thing. Very disappointed. I hate giving things back, especially with Covid, but $20, yeah, that's ridiculous.
