I bought it to power my DVR but after installation my DVR worked even when the power was off. It turns out it's normal for the OBD2 port in cars, so I'm assuming this power cord has a power switch. However, it's not the cable, but it won't work for my application. But it's nice to have and the price is great so I'll keep it.
