Review on Polk Audio AM4110 Nue Headphones by Monica Harris

Tips are everything

I recently bought these headphones to replace a wonderful set of Klipsch headphones that I sadly forgot at the gym. But I have Polk Audio speakers all over my house and I have a lot of respect for this company. So I picked up a few attachments that are similar to those on the outdated Klipsch phones. The mids and highs were good and crisp, but there was no bass at all. This fell short of what some reviews said about the bass being punchy and, if anything, overpowering and prone to distortion at high volumes. So I tried a few more tips and more and more. Finally, the fourth top pair became a revelation. The bass sounded solid and balanced the upper registers perfectly. But now there is another problem: when removing the nozzle, they remained in the ears. I tried a slightly smaller tip and while the bass isn't that great, at least the tips stay on the headphones. I've owned many earbuds and have never come across a pair that depended so much on earbuds for performance. So, if your first impression is the same as mine - extremely disappointing - you might just need to try a few different tips - maybe all at once.
