High-quality standalone recording of a cassette or AUX input to a USB flash drive

Recording of a cassette or AUX input to a USB flash drive with a standard type -A full-size jack. No computer required. The sound quality is good. It can play and record in any direction and has an auto reverse function. It can be powered by either two AA batteries or the included 5V 500mA power supply cable via a USB power adapter (not included) or via a USB port on a computer. I just used 5V 500mA current from a 2A 5V AC adapter. I do not recommend using AA batteries. Typically, AA alkaline batteries have a capacity of 860 to 1200 mAh. Also, their voltage drops significantly with use, and therefore the usable capacity is actually much less. It can automatically detect individual songs or just record everything until the stop button is pressed. I only used the manual mode, which requires you to be mindful of stopping and reversing after both sides have been played. Also, I didn't attempt to record using the AUX port and a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) plugged into another source's line out. The set also includes in-ear headphones with a 3.5mm stereo jack. In addition to the FAT and FAT32 formats, it also accepts the exFAT format, which means that you can use an SD, mini SD or micro SD card with the appropriate adapter. USEFUL INSTRUCTIONS: There is a sliding lock at the end, the flash drive is inserted. To record, first press the large PLAY button on one of the long edges (which also has STOP REW FF and DIR buttons and a dual action switch). The REC button is one of six tiny black buttons on one side (the opposite side has a window through which you can see the tape). The REC button is the second small black button from the back, into which the USB stick is inserted. O LL is stamped on it. By pressing the tiny black REC button once, the button's LED will flash continuously and recording will begin. Pressing again stops recording (but the cassette continues to spin) and the indicator stops flashing and stays on. Never remove the USB flash drive while recording. The USB flash drive may be damaged.

Pros
  • Automatic or manual recording
Cons
  • Not as thick as other guitar picks
