This was a replacement because our friend's daughter lost the original remote for my 4th gen Apple TV. I prepped for the remote using the iPhone remote app and made sure I was ahead of the remote by following other reviews (thanks btw). When I received the remote I was so upset that nothing happened to the Apple TV. I ripped the latch out of the remote and checked the reviews to make sure I wasn't going mad with frustration after trying for 45 minutes to get this remote to work. Luckily I had a different battery and find out, they sent me a new remote with a dead battery (hence the 3 star dead battery rating which caused my frustration) and after replacing the battery it worked! So be prepared for spare batteries when ordering this remote control. He does the main job.
