Review on Flammi Mosquito Head Net Hat Safari Hat UPF 50+ Sun Protection Fishing Boonie Hat Cap Outdoor For Men/Women by Jay Chowdhury

Not good for backpacking

The netting is not sufficiently far from your head, especially on the back/neck. It sticks to sweaty skin which allows the bugs to bite through it since the netting is effective only when there is a gap between the net and your skin. I have had better luck with similar products that use rigid or semi-flexible tubes to maintain this gap; however, their rigidity makes it hard to stuff them for packing purposes. I was hoping this would be a "stuffable" but still effective bug net hat, but it seems I must keep looking. For less strenuous activities (non-sweating) or environments with less aggressive mosquitoes (northern Great Lakes area gets clouds of them), this would likely be a solid purchase.

Pros
  • It's great in keeping insects away from your face during gardening season.
Cons
  • The head net is not washable
