I purchased these "just in case" and sincerely didn't hope to use them. But in the end, we did need them and they successfully kept a mom and two teens from going nuts on a mosquito filled camping evening. I have a black over the hat net I have been using for 7 years when hiking. I saw this and thought I'd give it a try to combine the hat and the net in one. It's good quick protection if just going anywhere near the hives and not to pull on a jacket & hood. This fill that requirement. The veil portion is a very fine mesh and affects the visibility . I got the Khaki color.

I just wish I had bought it sooner. I stay outside 90% of the time working in the garden, riding my horse, etc.after Hurricane Matthew, the mosquitoes were like 100 times worse than I have ever seen them. Does the job, no more bugs biting my face and neck when I’m gardening. I wish the netting was a lighter shade of the hat color. dislike that the gnats could get through the vents in the top of the hat but everything else is great! I was it and hang it to dry when there is too much bug spray on it because then the netting irritates my face.

netting is a tiny bit thicker than I imagined but when it comes to bees I think I am more than happy with that. This is a good hat to take hiking preadventure you run into bees/gnats/mosquitoes. The best part is how it's sewn into the today of the hat at the top so nothing can get in from top or bottom.

The netting is not sufficiently far from your head, especially on the back/neck. It sticks to sweaty skin which allows the bugs to bite through it since the netting is effective only when there is a gap between the net and your skin. I have had better luck with similar products that use rigid or semi-flexible tubes to maintain this gap; however, their rigidity makes it hard to stuff them for packing purposes. It's hard to see through. It keeps out the eye flies when I do yard work. It's fine when I am weeding or doing hand clipping. I don't need to see the fine details. But when I'm using power tools like the hedge trimmer, the lawn mower or the weed wacker, I need to see clearly or it can get dicey. Literally.I'll probably order a hat with dark netting in the future.

Northwoods in Minnesota is incredibly buggy this season. Netting is perfect and hat is comfortable and breathable. Great item!

The hat keep the gnats away really well. I have the dark grey hat and the netting is a little tough to see through. I don't have the best eye sight to start with so it may just be me. Other than that, it is a great hat
