If you don't succeed the first time, try again, maybe you just got an oddly bad one.
Received first, sent back - no plastic protective sleeve, melted cream on the outside of the container and only half that. Reordered and received a properly packaged item that was at least 3/4 full. I love the cream so far! I used to use a rescue stick and ran out of it, so I thought about trying something new. Very easy to mix in a container with a wet brush and then just seal for next time. Very satisfied so far!
