I added this pinner to my shop along with my Senco nail gun and Husky crown stapler. I really like this Grex, its configuration is very similar to the Senco block but about 3/4 in size; it's small, light and doesn't strike back. It accommodates a variety of pen lengths, I think anything longer requires pen strength. I've used this pin to go through red oak in finished hardwood up to 3/4 inch thick with no problem; it goes through softwood or laminated hard/softwood very easily. The replaceable soft tip leaves no trace on the poly paint, the pen almost disappears and is invisible unless you actually look for it. The soft tip has markings to determine the exact position of the pen. The pen is thin enough to Using moldings and you don't have to go back and fill the holes with wood spatula or smudge. Mine came with no replacement tip, after an email from Grex they sent me a replacement tip in no time. I prefer a hand-pull action, like my Brad pistol, but the double trigger works very well. The gun uses very little air, I can use it very easily with my small portable hand compressor. Sturdy plastic housing, although latch housings are less than solid plastic slide locks than metal mid-position latches, but they work just as well. The design of the gun is solid and feels good in the hand, the air nozzle is articulated so that the hose does not twist in tight places. The air outlet has a sintered bronze filter that reduces exhaust emissions, the gun is very quiet indeed. The manufacturer states that the gun needs to be lubricated via the air intake and provides a small bottle of oil for this purpose. I have yet to find any oil leaks that would foul the wood, either through the bolt or through the air vent. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and that Grex supplied the missing extra soft attachment.
