The hat is great sun protection. I live in the desert and it is always sunny. I also take chemo drugs so need to hide from the sun. It is cool and great coverage. The only thing I don't care for is the way I look in the mirror when wearing! When hiking, I always wear this but when going into town I have a different hat. Ah, vanity :)
