If I order a brand, I want it to be the brand. It was a real part of Delta. The only difference was that the original had a black base and the new one had a clear base which had/had no functional differences that I am aware of. The shaft is brass, not plastic. You can purchase a part with a 1/4 turn insert (RP25513) if you think you will need it, but the insert can be reused. The reason for replacing the entire valve stem assembly is that over time the o-rings wear, shrink, harden and break. Also, rubber seats that rub against the underside can become hard enough over time to cause wear on the underside of the valve. The cost of the valve is more important than trying to save money and having leaks. Also, always replace the rubber seat and metal spring under the valve, as well as the entire valve. Never use metal objects to press the seat and spring; Use your finger to push the seat and spring into place.
