Because first aid for blisters is NOT to break them open to prevent infection, it is not always possible to leave large, liquid-filled blisters like this when traveling with a heavy load. This is where the BSN Cover-Roll Stretch Adhesive Bandage Gauze saved us. My husband and I received a small piece of this sticky gauze while hiking the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, along with tips on how to use it. IT WAS EXCELLENT! We gently pricked the blister with a sterile (well, almost) needle to remove the fluid, then cleaned the area with an alcohol swab, applied sticky gauze, and then secured the edges outside of the blister with thin strips of white tape. It took the pressure off his legs during the hike, held the bladder in place to help him heal and allowed him to continue our 100 mile adventure.
