Review on KINBOOFI KZ AS16: High-Quality 8BA Per Side In-Ear Headphones for Stage and Studio Monitoring (Blue, No Mic) by Tanya Reed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Absolutely the best IEMs I've ever had!

Let me start by saying that I have been mixing live sound for almost 30 years and have owned many professional and consumer headphones. This is by far the best I've ever had. Let me tell you what they aren't. They are NOT bass boosted consumer POS headphones that you take with you to work out. These are true in-ear headphones with a smooth response to the incoming signal. That means they don't pick up highs, lows, or anything in between. They are really designed to hear the original sound as it sounds to the listener live. If you want to add a bass shift, the EQ feature is there for that. That doesn't mean you can't have bass in your source. These IEMs give you plenty of bass, but if you want more than the original source, you'll need to use an equalizer. Maybe your phone has a phone you've never used. Turn on the bass function there and enjoy your favorite music with more bass. For those who love classical, pop, metal and even EDM, they just work great! When I listen to classical recordings, on some recordings I hear the strumming of the strings, the hammering of the piano, and the movement of the bow across the strings. There is so much detail in these IEMs. For those who like other genres of music, sorry I didn't check everything as there aren't that many. I know the sound of the songs well enough to know who I am. absent or absent from the records. For reference I have listed Nightwish, Mozart, Beethoven, Tron Legacy Soundtrack, Kill Bill Soundtrack, Apocalyptic, Leo Metal, Two Steps from Hell, Nemesis and Luca Stricagnoli. All were impressive. Also, I paired them with their $20 low loss cables and wow, they really are amazing! In addition, for those who are wondering, they are extremely comfortable, have interchangeable ear tips and can be worn very comfortably for hours at a time. Both cables go through the ear, making them very secure and easy to use. Finally, I wasn't paid for this review, I bought everything myself including the cables and this is just my honest review. I did the review because a $136 pair of headphones is insane for this quality! I have a $500 IEM that's not even close. Add this to the USB-C sound card I have for PC and these are amazingly great gaming headphones, especially if you're using Dolby Atmos for gaming. A final word of caution, I noticed someone said they were hard on the highs. I noticed that on things that weren't well mixed on recording (like the Nemesis focusing on the subwoofer's bass) the high frequencies were harsh, but listening to classics with intentional highs and lows was very balanced, and the company I bet the response chart is very close to the pair I received. I also have some of the 5 KZ drivers and they are very good too. These are arguably the everyday headphones anyone could dream of, which is why I wanted to check out these 8 bad-boy drivers. You really delivered!
