We got the littleBits starter set a year or so ago, and while it only has a few different modules, it still is kind of fun for my 4 and 6 year old kids (even though they are well below the 8+/3rd grade recommendation). I also enjoy playing with them, but really there weren't enough modules. This set adds a ton (well 19) of 'bits' (i.e. the modules) here is what you get:Power* USB Power* Power (via Barrel jack -- AC adapter and Battery adapter included)Outputs:* Fan* Buzzer* Long LED* RGB LED* Servo* Number* (2) DC Motor TetheredAdjusters* Slide Dimmer* Light Sensors* Button* Pulse* Temperature SensorHook Up Bits* (2) Wire* Fork* InverterAnd then a ton (well 45) accessories. Wheels, Screwdriver, mounting boards, motor accessories, arms, etc. You also get a large book of a bunch of ideas and walk through things, which is great to go through with your kids.I love the littleBits concept, and adding these modules allows for a ton of usage, although I still want to add a few additional sensors and such like the wifi ones to really expand it out. There are lots of things here that let you do complex things, but yet still do it simply. The downside is that they are quite expensive, but the magnetic latch/hookups are amazing, makes the focus on setting up instead of trying to solder.
