I bought a descaler and a water filter for the whole house. The ball valve on one of the devices was defective. It's the same valve for both, so I'm not sure which one came with the broken block. I contacted Revane and they gave me AO Smith to call. I was hoping they would just replace the valve as it is a small part. When I called AO Smith they told me to contact Revain about damaged parts. I explained that the part was not "damaged," it was a manufacturing defect due to the valve not working properly. I was told "this is not a part that we can replace" and would need to replace the entire unit through Revain. For real? The part that fits in the palm of my hand? Well, that's exactly what I wanted to avoid. I already reworked the box because all the parts were there and looked good, and partially installed the block. I didn't realize the valve was defective until I installed it. So now I have the option of either canceling all this work and fixing the issues by returning the entire unit or buying a new valve for $20. Worst warranty service I've ever had. I will no longer buy from AO Smith if these units need replacing. A company that cannot vouch for its components in a brand new system cannot be trusted!
