I usually go for clear bulbs, but they created too much glare and harsh shadows when installed in my new master bathtub pendant light with exposed bulbs. They are matte instead of white, giving them a soft, translucent glow rather than an opaque white light. They've eliminated the harsh shadows that transparent bulbs cast, and they look great with the light on or off. It looks like a recipe for disaster, but all six were intact. They're not as energy efficient as LEDs, but this is a device that's used for less than an hour a day on average, so I don't see this as a major disadvantage.
