Recently installed one of these emergency lights. The instructions could have been better. For example, the wires in the head were severed. The instructions do not say anything about this, but the terminals must be connected before installation. After connecting the white and black wires (120 volts) and twisting the red wire, the faceplate simply snaps onto the mounting plate. Easy. The LEDs are expected to light up immediately after connecting the wires since the switch has been turned off. Not so. The circuit breaker had to be cycled on and then off to turn on the LEDs. Activate? Charge your battery in minutes? I do not know. The LEDs are very bright. Installation is easy. The test button works great. I can't say anything about the battery life yet - too early to tell. Generally a good alarm.
