These are solid posts that withstand hammering well. I like the carabiner and wire attachment on the ring. The top can be removed and if needed a loop can be used to shorten the length of the wire. It was not possible or necessary for me to check their distance from solid ground by opening the lid and pouring water over the pen. I'm curious to see how well this works, it seems like a great concept. In general. large, strong stakes for heavy use. hope this helps you
