Columbia has always had good shoes, but never great ones. Bought Montrail over a decade ago and I've seen their quality improve a lot. We can say that they listened to the Montrail team and incorporated their technologies into their own brand's shoe lines. This shoe is another example of how Columbia uses this knowledge to create a great product. I pronate (duckfoot) and have trouble finding shoes and hiking boots that provide support without orthotics. There are brands that are better than others and Montrail is one of my favorite brands for running shoes and lightweight outdoor shoes. I am happy to say that these shoes do the job very well. They are super light and comfortable. They are very supportive but don't put much pressure on the lift. I've been living in them for the past few days while hiking local trails and they are great. I also had some nagging ankle and knee issues that tended to exaggerate that pronation. These shoes straightened my joints almost immediately and I have had little to no pain since wearing them. You can't get better shoes for the price.
