I have a polyurethane finish on my wood floors and bought this cleaner along with MinWax Floor Restorer Gloss. It worked like a charm! Since then I've sometimes used the cleaner alone when my Shark Mop just couldn't handle it. All of our floors are marble and wood (and this is ONLY a wood cleaner) and for a number of years I've only been happy with the Shark. I didn't think I would use MinWax cleaner other than buffing the floor with Reclaimer, but I was wrong. This product makes the floor cleaner and newer/prettier than ever. It doesn't remove scratches, but the color looks more even and beautiful. Since I couldn't decide which products to use for a long time, I'm sharing my tips. There are two types of hardwood floors, and each has its own cleaning method. TEST: You can test your floor to see if it is wax coated or polyurethane coated. To do this, put a few drops of water on the floor. If it's convex, you have polyester bottoms; Water begins to sink into the waxed floors. Deep cracks in resin coated floors can absorb water so testing these areas is not recommended as water is detrimental to bare wood. Waxed Hardwood: This is typically only found in very old/historic homes. I have no idea how to wax floors so I can't help you here! - Polyurethane Coated Hardwood: The floor in my house was installed by the previous owner about 12 years ago and is coated with resin. You can't use wax on PVC floors or you'll wash them out badly. The wax won't ruin resin floors, but it won't stick either, so it can be difficult to remove. I've read that many cleaning/repair kits leave an orange/amber tint so I bought MinWax because that's not the case. much, my bottle is still quite full. Nice floors, I'm glad I bought them!
