The hair is straight, straight and not very thick. It has multiple layers in the front and a few inches below my shoulders. This product has worked wonders! It heats up quickly. It gets very hot (use the glove provided). It only has on/off, no heating options, and no cool tip. The cord turns. However, let's get to the good part. I've never used a curling iron before, so I looked up a few basic tutorials online for regular curls, soft waves, and beachy waves. I got all these pictures for the first time. Not sure if the magic it uses is any better than my old regular curling iron but I will never go back!
