I received this product today, so I can't comment on the durability. Both my checks and register fit in it, and the plastic shield for the duplicate checks is adequate. Sadly, there is no way a pen will fit inside of the slot provided and still have it come even close to closing. It also seems like if the pen did fit, the clip on the pen might wreak havoc with the leather/stitching on the slot. The color is nothing like the cadet blue pictured, but I don't really care. All in all, it seems like it will be well worth the price.
