Considering the price, my expectations were low. At first I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish. After using it a few times and getting great runout, curiosity got the better of me and I took it apart to check the bearings and see if there were any signs of wear. Disassembly is fairly easy - remove the sealant from the small grub screw on the side, remove the screw and then twist the inside of the assembly to pull the balls out one at a time. It was about 30 balls total (I didn't count them, sorry), and the handful I wrote down was a tenth. The bearing raceways were ground to an impressive level of cleanliness and showed no signs of contamination or uneven wear. Speaking of contamination - I was shocked to find an O-ring on the inside of the bearing that prevents grease from being washed out when used by coolant. how much would the famous ball bearing nut cost.
