I use it with my faux fireplace
The lowest setting is quite loud but I can tune the crackle right in my faux wood stove to muffle the sound a bit and reduce the sharpness of the "cod" to sound more realistic. The device is small and unobtrusive, allowing it to be placed almost anywhere to hear fire sounds, but be aware that the sound itself is a bit harsh. I'm glad I bought it and think it's good for the purpose.
