This is an elegant fan at a reasonable price. The construction is solid, the fan itself weighs over 40 pounds and is mostly metal construction. At the lowest speed it is very quiet and moves quite a lot of air. It gets noisy at higher speeds, but I guess that's inevitable. I noticed this when moving from one apartment to the other. The stains were very difficult to remove. I've since put a small paper plate under each foot, which solved the problem. I place the paper plates so that they are completely under the fan and are not visible.
