I bought this item to use with my new Apple CarPlay head unit and it works great. I don't smoke so I threw away the cigarette lighter and installed a dual USB module instead. The device data port recognized my iPhone immediately. There are some bad reviews on this device from people who don't understand the meaning of the terms data/charge port and charge port only. The data port not only transmits data to the car's head unit, but also charges the device at the same time. The charging port ONLY charges the second device. Keep in mind that this is a 1.5A charger supplied by the main unit. So if you try to charge two devices that draw more than 1.5A, there's a chance the head unit will shut down, as mentioned in one review. This is the same problem that occurs when you overcharge the 5V 1.5A USB ports on a laptop. If you need a larger charging capacity, I recommend buying a separate charger that connects to the car's 12V network and can charge 3A or more. Hope this review helps. For your health.
