I needed a bed with a washable or waterproof lining. My dogs lick all over the place and bedding and linens get wet and eventually stink. He's not even 5 and this is our 4th bed. They are never quite right for him and the way they are. He has to fondle them, turn them over and then stack them until he likes it. Its claws tore through the first two we had. This bed is quite heavy, making it harder for him to move and fluff it up. Soft on the outside, not sure if it's hard enough if it scratches too much. He loves it though, he put it on before he had a chance to fully unwrap it. We've only had it a week so my comments are limited. But if it does what I hope it will be worth the money!
