My older twin who is 7 wears a boy size 8 or 10, they are thicker and fit him a little better in the crotch and back than his brother, but they are too short for him. They are soft and not heavy, not waffle. a woven type of fabric, but a thinner, lightweight fabric that is breathable and makes an excellent layered product. My son loves them and has worn them enough times to require a few washes which has left the thermos in great condition. Overall we really like them, but be prepared to have plenty of time to resize them if needed. Booking at the last minute before a trip etc. can be difficult.
