This sponge is ideal for cleaning old books. After purchasing a new book for my collection, if it appears to be a little dirty or not, rub this dry sponge over the surface of the cover, spine, back cover and inside the cover. or even particularly dirty pages, leaving visible smudges on the sponge - the dirt that used to be on the book! The books always end up in excellent condition, some in wonderful condition. I just wash the sponge in the kitchen sink and let it dry on the dish rack for the next round.
