I bought a 3 shelf unit to use under a wall mounted flat screen TV, cable box, DVD player and internet router. Since this is quite a heavy unit due to the glass shelves and having to stand against a plastered wall, I made sure to find a stud to attach it to, so I would use screws straight into the studs rather than plastic anchors. since the plaster is only about 3/8 inch thick. Reviews of this unit from more than one customer said the fasteners were sub-standard and even one of their mounting screws broke, so I decided to use my own screws (2 screws total) to mount it on the wall. There were reviews about the device actually falling off the wall and how weak it is. I suspect the issue others are having installing this shelf is that they only use plastic anchors in thin plaster or drywall and it just isn't strong enough to support it. I have no real issues with the shelf's construction noticed, but I can understand that someone who is not mechanically savvy could cause some problems, such as: You probably delete the threads and try to use it anyway. The instructions are pretty vague and don't mention the need to be careful when tightening the shelf bracket mounting screws. One of the screws that came with my shelf was a Phillips head instead of a hex socket like all the other screws, which was cumbersome. The only feature I didn't notice was the thin plastic wire guides they provide to organize the wiring. Shielded TV cables are very stiff and cannot bend very much to fit these flimsy plastic ducts. I ended up not even using guides, just twisting the wires together. Because of the wire guides and an odd metric mounting screw, I'm giving it 4 stars. I think this shelf is a good buy for the price. This is quite a delicate shelf that cannot withstand something like a cat jumping on it or the grasping of small children; I doubt he would have survived without damage. I would buy it again if I needed another one.
