What I like about these night lights is that they combine a motion sensor and a light sensor (although VONT does not disclose this feature in their description). When switched to AUTO, the light will not stay on in the dark unless motion is detected. Therefore, unlike most light-sensitive night lights, a dark room or hallway is not constantly illuminated in the dark. The light only comes on when movement is detected. This property makes them ideal for bathrooms, e.g. a dressing room, where dim lighting is only useful when someone is busy. Otherwise, the typical night lights stay on all day.
