Judging by the pictures I thought that the lower half of the device is bright. No, that is not so. The light comes from a small lip protruding from the top half. Why does it matter? In ON mode, it's always on, even during the day (no dusk to dawn function) In AUTO mode, the light turns on when you drive AND the app runs from dusk to dawn.
