In ON mode, it's always on, even during the day (no dusk to dawn function) In AUTO mode, the light turns on when you drive AND the app runs from dusk to dawn. (Similar to if you have 200 watt light it can stay off) So if you want to use it as a night light in the bathroom, it has to be on at all times (until you physically turn it off) or you have to switch to the location (IN OF DARKNESS) where your movement activates the light. Because activating the motion detector in the bathroom after tripping over two pairs of shoes and a laundry basket on the way to the bathroom doesn't help me much. Well I guess then I'll be able to see how much damage I did to my toe. I have a cheap $2 night light with a sensor that stops working from dusk to dawn, so I have to remember to turn it off every morning. Why would I replace it with $5 that requires the same thing? It might be good to enter a dark room WHERE AN OUTLET POINTS TO THE ENTRANCE so the motion sensor can detect movement. Otherwise not very helpful in my opinion. I mean who the fuck needs it during the day? They really lost the ball when they didn't connect the ON mode via the sunset twilight sensor. If you want something useful, try the standard 6-piece night lights.
