I connected an ASUS Blu-ray drive, the built-in 12V/2A power adapter was not enough to ensure reliable operation to guarantee. I have a 4 pin Molex on the back of my computer that plugs into the main PC power supply and is for drives connected via eSATA. I took a spare Molex splitter, trimmed the excess wires and soldered the yellow wire to the center pin of the original power connector and the black common wire to the side. Now I can connect it to the main computer and it will turn on and off with the main computer. I wish they would convert this product to have a regular SATA data connector instead of a full width connection that contains power and data. This allows you to use any power supply you want and allows the manufacturer to make versions with an additional power supply.
