I have a 240W version to support peripherals like 2.5" USB hard drives in 3.0 and 3.1 cases. The key is to provide a BIOS setting to support the Thunderbolt Dock. To access the BIOS, press (F12) during boot to access the BIOS. Also, use the Support Assistant app or the Dell website to ensure you have the correct and latest drives for the Thunderbolt port. Once the Thunderbolt drivers see the dock, they update the system drivers to address the ports correctly. Performance has been great, no issues so far. It's very convenient to have additional USB 3.0 ports and easily accessible display ports without sacrificing a Thunderbolt port. Another feature I use a lot is the power button. I have the main display of a 43" 4K monitor, I can leave the laptop lid closed and turn on the dock to run the laptop on an external monitor. This reduces wear and tear on my laptop's 4K display when docked and keeps dust to a minimum, but I can always open the laptop up to add an additional display. I originally thought of this docking station as a power source for my office laptop. This allows me to use the provided power source as I take it with me on the road. Here, too, 240 W provide the laptop and peripherals with more than enough power. I have read several reviews of this product that have reported problems. Having used slightly older versions of a similar dock, I felt that the reviews were most likely inaccurate or the issues were misunderstood. I am very satisfied with the product and it meets all my needs and expectations.
