Not as bad as some say

Update: All my previously provided information is still correct. Sometimes the dock doesn't connect all the peripherals the first time you connect it, but reconnecting the dock usually fixes the problem! The 180w adapter I use has no charging issues, I can throw anything in and it charges well to handle the load! Got my docking station today. A few things to note of my use. Firstly, go to the Dell website and download the drivers. Install the drivers the same way they did originally when I…

It works, but is cumbersome to construct.

This dock works as advertised. I have 2 monitors, an 8-bay Mediasonic ProBox external hard drive enclosure and sometimes other USB 3 drives are connected to it. Mediasonic has high capacity drives in all 8 bays, so throughput is high. As mentioned, the docking station is not well designed. The Thunderbolt 3 cable exits the left side and then plugs into the left side of the Dell computer, which is pointless as it has to be wrapped around and takes up valuable length. This is very inconvenient…

It works, but not in the way I would like it to.

I got this to replace my Dell WD15 docking station. I was under the impression that a Thunderbolt dock would fare much better than a USB-C dock, but it was about the same, if not slightly worse. Once the dock is up and running you'll forget about it, but when I start my computer it takes at least 2 minutes for this dock to fully initialize. That would be nice, but the last thing I think will initialize the USB ports, leaving my computer on the lock screen for 2 minutes before the keyboard and…

Plagued by problems and not worth the price

It doesn't work like it should and I had to jump through hoops for a week to even get it to work. I'm trying to use this with my Dell XPS 15 9560 running Windows 10 Professional. I updated all the drivers, went and bought some extra cables/adapters to try and get it working differently, and even let Dell control my computer remotely once. In fact, none of the issues have been fixed. Here are the issues I'm still facing: - 4K at 60Hz doesn't output at all, let alone on multiple monitors. I tried

This dock is just amazing.

I have a 240W version to support peripherals like 2.5" USB hard drives in 3.0 and 3.1 cases. The key is to provide a BIOS setting to support the Thunderbolt Dock. To access the BIOS, press (F12) during boot to access the BIOS. Also, use the Support Assistant app or the Dell website to ensure you have the correct and latest drives for the Thunderbolt port. Once the Thunderbolt drivers see the dock, they update the system drivers to address the ports correctly. Performance has been great, no…

Complete junk for computers and accessories

It seems to have all the problems of the TB15 plus just a poorly designed docking station. USB sound card stuck on ASMedia USB hub. The simple fact that Dell took a lightning-fast protocol and decided to limit everything to USB 3 speeds is bad. That they chose to do this via a pathetic USB chipset that can't even reach USB 3 speeds is even worse. This means that if you do a lot of network transfers when something is plugged into the USB port, you will see a drop in throughput. This also means…

Pros

  • No insurance

Worked well for about a month. Every time the computer goes to sleep, the keyboard and mouse that are connected to the dock lose connection and never connect again. The only solution I found is to restart the computer and then the connection works again until the computer goes back to sleep. So I disabled sleep mode and have to reboot 2 or 3 times a day for the dock to work. Dell gave me the excuse to buy an extended service plan for a Dell computer before they give me support for a dock issue…
