adjustable they are perfect for what i need. We took the advice of others and added some brackets at the top to secure it. It is very easy to make up. We installed these 3 and fixed them in under 10 minutes. The only thing I don't like is that one side feels too tight when pulled down so the blinds don't even sit. 2 out of 3 made it. I just got a parrot and had to attach something to block the windows next to his cage, no ropes etc. If he messes up I'll just replace him with another one. Yes, they look like more expensive shades. Looks very nice, not cheap. They fit our windows perfectly so we didn't have to trim them but I can see how it would work great if needed. Now I have to get the big one, wanted to see how the little ones did first. I like the fabric too.
