This is my second remote control of this model, the first one still works after a few months around the house with kids (one kid + me) I bought these to retrofit with a power switch to prevent the little guy from doing it discouraged you from pushing the buttons and didn't hold up Sesame Street, or so dad wouldn't try to watch another day of the orphanage instead of the news.). Taking it apart (not recommended of course) it's easy to see why this thing is so solid, simplicity in one board is everything. Also, 2.4G is the way to go, I've tried many other remotes, especially Bluetooth. Theoretically they are better, but they are not. The connection adds a layer of complexity and, not to mention, it's unreliable. The USB receiver is basic and seems to operate in a frequency band that isn't overwhelmed by all the other 2.4G devices floating around. I use it on NVIDIA Shield. And both remotes work great at the same time, even with a USB hub.
