We've used countless other plastic or plastic/metal cookware and they've done the job, but they just didn't do the job we wanted them to. It makes our kids feel like they're using the same crockery as us (and it's just smaller), and the embossed handle makes it easy to spot when you take it out of the dishwasher. I love the fact that stainless steel means they can be completely clean and free of the gross stuff like plastic/metal hybrids. My oldest daughter (3) loves having a knife (sometimes) and feels very grown up. We bought a test kit and I plan to buy 2-4 more kits as we are very happy with them.
