It's easy to install for the most part (left-hand thread which is standard on them). It is easy to install and fix in the hole. Plus, it's easy to position the stem to match your tank and float and flapper valve positions. The smoothness comes from the fact that it has a relatively long sleeve bearing and I am very happy with this design having dealt with low profile bearings which fail fairly quickly because they simply cannot withstand the forces applied . The downside for some people will be that this long stock means the arm sticks out a little further forward from the tank surface than you might expect. Mechanically it's really good, but some people might not like the looks. The only notable downside is the almost useless chain clip that comes with the kit. It's a bit odd that such a well-designed lever has such a cheap clip, but it's there. You'll probably have to fiddle with it a bit during installation, or use a clip that detaches from the arm you're replacing.
