This set originally served as a replacement for conventional cotton swabs. Between makeup remover and toner, I use some cotton products. Bamboo is a very fast growing plant and a good alternative to cotton. While I love that they are reusable, they don't have the same quality and quality as real cotton circles. In fact, the velor material makes it a bit difficult to absorb. (Think microfiber material.) The liquid stops at the top and squirts out. You need to rub the liquid into the bamboo circle. It's doable, but a bit annoying. Definitely not as absorbent as cotton. That's it. I found the size is too big for comfortable use. This ammo fails when used and I have to throw it away, which is undesirable. The edges need to be reinforced to make them more rigid. One side should be rougher, the other velor. In general everything was fine. Would NOT buy again but love the bamboo jar and panda tote. Will still be used for the time being, but definitely not a suitable replacement for real cotton cartridges.
